Many rods heading north looking for fishing in Scotland pass by Dumfries and Galloway without a second glance. This is to be regretted as the area contains some fine spate rivers.

 

Many are easily accessible and offer some great sport inspite of afforestation which has probably affected runs. Both the Annan and the Nith have good websites.

The Salmon start to run in August with the main run in October/November. There is also a good population of Brown Trout and Grayling. There are 13 named pools, all within easy walking distance of the caravan park.

Set in the heart of the Ken / Dee valley in Dumfries and Galloway,
south west Scotland. It is undoubtedly Scotland's most prolific pike water with the emphasis on large catches of hard fighting middleweight fish. Historically some huge pike have been recorded here, including the famous Kenmure pike caught in 1798 reputed to have weighed 72lbs (32.7kg).
